After receiving the handout for this project, I instantly had my eye on a few different books which i felt could be interesting and lead to great outcomes, however I felt when choosing my narrative it is important i think of a narrative that will push myself and experiment in different ways.
I settled on two different books, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien both two very well known books. When thinking about each book both have a known vision due to the success of the films however, both are actually adapted differently therefore, when thinking about this project I need to refer specifically to the book itself. To help myself decide I made lists of the Pros and Cons of each book below.
HOBBIT
- An exciting story I have known and seen before.
- Doesn't suit my current brand.
- However could experiment and push myself further
- Could experiment with gouache landscapes which was something I enjoyed during the summer
- Would like to make a simpler version for kids
JUNGLE BOOK
- Could suit my current brand more
- Don't know the story as well
- Could be created for children
- Intrigued by the idea of jungle landscape's
- Worried it wont push me enough as it is similar to past work.
