As part of my research I wanted to create a moodboard for each of my choices and looked at different artists capture the story in their own unique ways. I feel for myself that it is an important element of my research as it allows me to collect data and see how it could inspire my own work.
The first moodboard seen above was for the story the hobbit. I used Pinterest to collect a range of images all of which capture the narrative. I particular like these as they all use distinct colour palettes to capture the surrounding environments. I liked these so much i used the drop tool to collect colour from the image and create inspired colour palettes that can be seen around the outside. However, my particular favourite illustration was the bottom lord of the rings illustration. Although this was from a different book in the series I just loved how the illustrator played around with perspective and colour to create that sense of the environment and especially the trees in the distance behind them.
I also created a moodboard for the jungle book in which i also went on Pinterest and collected a range of images that really inspired me. This was a great way for me to find artist who had captured he story in the past and see how they vision the overall look.
