Inital Sketches

After looking further into both books i felt it would be great to look and play around with some quick illustrations. I did this as i felt it would help me see which I'm really enjoying and which i feel a connection to.

The photo above shows my two sketches for the jungle book, I did two quick sketches of two characters i quickly researched that being Mowgli the young boy cub and Kaa the rock python. I liked how both of these looked as felt it showed character and yet had a good route for development. 

Moving forward if i choose to p[progress with the Jungle Book i would like to look at more of the characters and create further developed sketches maybe looking at the species of the animals in great detail. 

After producing the Jungle Book sketches I moved onto The Hobbit thinking about how the characters could look and how it could connect to their environment. I really enjoyed producing these sketches as I oved the idea of the fantasy genre and felt I could be super powerful told in a children style book. 

If  i choose to move forward with The Hobbit I think it would be nice to look at creating these sketches digitally adding colour and texture. It may also be nice to look at the landscapes as i feel this is an important aspect within the book. 

Moving forward with my project and research I intend to finalise my decision of the books and listen to the audio book which therefore allows me to take both notes written and visually.  From here I could narrow my research and look more at particular graphics as well as artist who have captured the story in the past.
